2024-2025 Awards

Sheila Treleaven Bursary Award   

Sheila Treleaven was a Skate Amherstburg Board Member for many years and was incredibly dedicated to the club.  She was a great role model of kindness and compassion. 

Each year, in honour of Shelia, we present the Sheila Treleaven Bursary to a skater that demonstrates some of those same qualities.  This year's recipient is Ava Danelon.

CanSkate Champions & CanSkater of the Year

These skaters are selected by our coaches based on a set of criteria including enthusiasm, participation, and development of skating skills throughout the season.  

The 2024-2025 CanSkater of the Year is Elodie Lemieux (far left) and the 2024-2025 CanSkate Champions are Giulia Clemena (far right) and Adriana Oraha (right of Elodie).

Program Assistant of the Year

Each year, our coaches choose one Program Assistant that goes above and beyond the call of duty. This volunteer skater shows great initiative, punctuality, and enthusiasm during every canskate session. Without these program assistants, CanSkate would not be a successful program.

The 2024-2025 PA of the Year is Teaghan Laframboise.  She has been an asset to Skate Amherst

Volunteer of the Year

Skate Amherstburg is a volunteer run organization and without our volunteers there would be no club.

This year's Volunteer of the Year is Sarah Bedal.  She holds several positions on the board and seems to be at the rink almost every day, taking care of business.  She is proud to have two skaters with Skate Amherstburg and is excited for the potential of each and every upcoming
