In order to align the Star 1-5 competition format with the StarSkate test stream, Skate Canada has launched Star 1 -5 Coach Assessments. These tests, some old, some changed, and some new, will replace Preliminary and Junior Bronze Skills, Dance, and FreeSkate. Once passed Star 5, skaters then jump into the Senior Bronze tests that are all unchanged.
The main difference between Star 1-5 and the old test system is that skaters will no longer have to “test” in front of a “judge”. They will be assessed on their regular practice ice by their own coach whenever they are ready.
